Doobie Brothers

The Doobie Brothers are an American band formed at the end of the 1960s and have sold over 40 million albums worldwide. It was drummer John Hartman and guitarist/songwriter Tom Johnston who had first met in California in 1969 and were the core of the band. Strangely enough their popularity first hit factions of the Hell’s Angels bikers. However in 1971 they decided to change their sound and released their self-entitled album full of more acoustic and country tracks. This would be the basis of their music in the years to come. Indeed over the years there were various changes in personnel, most notably Johnston leaving and Steely Dan’s Michael Mcdonald joining. Hits included ‘Listen to the Music’ and ‘Long Train Runnin’. The Band disbanded for five years in the mid-eighties and then reformed with old and new members, Johnston returning for a second-stint. From then on they have continued to tour and record.
