Toto are an American rock band, founded in 1977 by drummer Jeff Porcaro and keyboardist David Paich, two of the most experienced session musicians around at the time. They in turn invited guitarist Steve Lukather and keyboardist Steve Porcaro to join the band, and also brought in David Hungate, another acclaimed studio musician. Bobby Kimball was the final member to join the band on vocals, to provide the harmonies and breadth of musicianship the live performance of their material would require. Toto had huge commercial success in the late 70s and throughout the 80s, with such songs as "Rosanna" and "Africa" becoming huge worldwide smashes. There have been a few changes of personnel along the way, but their fans stayed devoted to them until their split at the end of their 2008 tour.
