Last week, Eagle Rock Entertainment proudly accepted its 2nd Blues Music Award, at The Blues Foundation’s 34th Annual Blues Music Awards,
for the recently released DVD Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones: Live At The Checkerboard Lounge 1981.
“With a great deal of pride and satisfaction, we at Eagle Rock accept our 2nd National Blues Award for Checkerboard Lounge. Eagle Rock has always supported the Blues Awards, and we help in anyway we can to raise the roof on the National Blues Museum in Memphis,” states Mike Carden, President Of Operations North America.
Live At The Checkerboard Lounge Chicago 1981 was released on DVD, as well as a DVD/CD set, on July 10, 2012. This historic concert is one of those priceless moments-in-time, when Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart strolled into Buddy Guy’s blues club on a night off, and were invited one-by-one by Muddy Waters himself (1915-1983) to perform with him onstage. Joined by Buddy Guy and Junior Wells (1934-1998), this all-star performance is one of those magical occurrences caught on tape and recorded for posterity. The concert film was mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain.
This is Eagle Rock’s second Blues Music Award. The first was the 2009 “Historical Album Of The Year” for Albert Collins: Live At Montreux 1992.
